North Pointe Church
Website Update

The Challenge:

North Pointe Baptist Church, a rapidly growing congregation in Hurst, Texas, needed a website that better supported its community-building mission. Following a church merger and organizational shift, the existing site no longer aligned with user expectations or communication needs. Key issues included outdated design, unclear user pathways, and poor content organization—factors that reduced engagement and limited the church’s ability to deliver timely information. I stepped in to lead a full website overhaul that aligned with both audience needs and organizational goals.

The Solution:

Since I had already updated some print materials for North Pointe in the past, the color scheme has pretty much locked down. The main objective was to develop a modern design that users could navigate easily.

Competitive Analysis and Research

To identify performance gaps and UX opportunities, I conducted a competitive landscape review of high-performing DFW mega-church websites. This analysis focused on content hierarchy, navigation logic, mobile experience, and engagement-driving features. Insights from these benchmarks shaped the project’s UX strategy and helped establish standards for structure and functionality.

Wireframes

Using insights from the competitive review and stakeholder input, I restructured the site map to reduce friction and improve wayfinding. Figma wireframes were developed to validate the IA, optimize navigation flows, and ensure key user tasks—such as finding service times, watching sermons, or connecting with ministries—were easily accessible.

Moodboard

Although the primary brand colors were already established, I used a structured ideation process—including moodboards—to evaluate new visual directions, refine accessibility contrast levels, and ensure consistency across digital and print channels.

User Interface Mockups

After alignment on structure and visual strategy, I produced high-fidelity mockups for each page. These designs emphasized clarity, visual hierarchy, mobile responsiveness, and content readability—all tailored to support user engagement and reduce cognitive load.

Mobile Concepts

Recognizing that congregants often interact with church content via mobile, I finalized the project with mobile-first UI concepts. These designs ensured seamless access to sermons, event details, and navigation on smaller screens, supporting higher engagement across devices.

Prototype

To reduce development risk and validate key UX decisions early, I produced an interactive HTML prototype prior to WordPress implementation. This allowed stakeholders to test navigation flows, review content hierarchy, and identify usability issues in a low-cost environment. Gathering feedback at this stage ensured the final build was aligned with user needs and minimized downstream revisions.
